JosepineJackson Question

For those who are used to wearing face masks daily. I need an advice. ⚠️⚠️⚠️

Yes, it's Saturday and I'm offline, but I need help. See, in my country, before 2nd wave of corona shit started, people didn't have to wear face masks in shops, now we do have to wear them in most stores. To be honest, I have had very little experience with wearing them before, usually only trying on at home, almost never outside. And I have found out that I absolutely can't handle them in shops. See, there are many factors, first of all, I have glasses and they get very foggy right after I put on a mask, I can't figure out how to make it stop and I can't see anything if I have a mask on. Secondly I have been battling cystic acne ever since I was in my early tweens, it's better during recent years but still my skin is very oily and easy to irritate. Third and most unpleasant problem - for literally my whole life, I can't handle wearing anything tightly around my head, I don't wear hats, bandanas, thick fabric headbands, I can't even handle turtleneck sweaters most of the time, unless it's really cold weather. It took me years and months to be able to wear my hair down without getting sick of it touching my neck and ears. See, whenever something is too tightly on me, my ears and cheeks become all dark red and flushed and I start sweating and fainting. A little strap from face mask behind my ear is enough my make my ears all red and burning. I just tried to go into a shop half an hour ago and ended up running out of the store to rip that mask off of me. Now, I'm at home, pressing ice to my face to get rid of the redness and hotness in my ears and cheeks... It still won't go away. So to those who are used to wearing face masks regularly and for longer periods of time, especially those who also wear glasses, help! I know, about last problem, it's all just side effect of my mental illness but... It's still a problem. I guess I'm not going to go to any shops anymore for like half a year now. But shops are the only places I can go to where I can at least SEE PEOPLE. Hope it

Hope it makes sense, if you know what my life is like and how I suffer from it. I just don't know what to do, I'm in panic, any advice would be highly appreciated.

Hi,Liana :)

I'm am allergic to face masks myself.I had to go to the hospital because my face swelled up bad and my eyes felt like I had shampoo in them. There are two options for me :

1.I can get a doctors note that states I have a medical condition so I don't need to wear a mask. The note must be with you at all times as proof.

2.I wear a face shield one that you can wear with glasses. You can buy them on ebay and amazon they don't cost much.Face shield glasses or face visor glasses. If you can't get hold of one I buy one and post it on to you if you wish.Hope this helps.Try not not to panic sweetie. There's always a way around things xx

The shield looks cool actually, I have seen them in local stores too, so it could be an option for if situation goes so crazy that I absolutely have to wear something. I don’t know if doctor would give me that note though. So yeah I guess I’ll go shopping more rarely 🧡 Poor you hun, hope your face has healed completely now. You definitely aren’t alone struggling! I should have had thought of my intolerance for tight clothes around head earlier 💛

Hey Liana! Totally understand what your going thru! So here are a couple of tips that I hope help.
1. They make extenders for masks so they don't hurt your ears. You just tie in the back. You can also use shoe laces too.
2. I get the glasses issue (so annoying!) So, first wipe your glasses before you wear the mask. Also make sure the mask fits properly. And having a nose bridge helps. There are masks that have that. And there's a tip going around that washing your glasses with soap and water helps, too. Plus try to wear your glasses over your mask. That should make it fit better and prevent fogging.
3. Try washing your face with a cleanser. I use clean and clear. And if you feel a zit coming use an acne spot treatment.
4. Also wash your mask (if you have a cloth one) Tbh, I find cloth masks a lot more comfortable!
Sure hopes this helps, hun! Stay positive! We've got your back! <3

I don’t know, sometimes simply a strand of my own hair is enough to make my ears red for hours, I think it’s mostly mental thing 🧡 I will definitely give these tips a try, hopefully I can make those masks more comfortable in some way 💛 Yes, I do wash my face, at least twice a day, my acne has got much better during last two years and I’m really taking lots of care of it but of course it’s still far from perfect 💛

And yes, I would never wear the same mask twice without washing, I’m an OCD cleanliness freak and can’t handle my own oils and sweat 😂

Yup, about acne, indeed, product that are made for severe acne treatment are made to make your acne never go away, instead, unless it's very severe, just use cleansing products form nearest beauty store, made for all skin types or oily skin (if it's what you also have), those are more effective than any medical products. :) Yup, I'll figure something out :)

I find these masks light and not tight. Cotton ones don't protect you, it needs to be a surgical or even better a N95 mask this one is more tighter but more protective. It's also very important keeping the distance of a meter and most of all DON'T go out unless is absolutely necessary. I know it's hard...But surviving the virus and it's consequences is way HARDER!! if you don't die that is....So we all have to hang in there we'll get though this.❤
