A week later…

Rico was standing near Marlene’s cave entrance when he noticed a small, yellow slip of paper on the ground. Of course he was curious, so he decided to bend down and remove it from the concrete. It appeared to be folded in half. Rico narrowed his eyes in order to better focus as he unfolded the yellow paper. He slowly read what someone had written upon it. Once he finished, Rico folded it back and turned to head into the cave.

Marlene was recovering well from her little episode with Skipper. However, there were times when Rico could easily tell that she yearned for a different...

Skipper sat in the HQ drinking his favorite fish flavored coffee and reading his morning briefing. From what he read there seemed to be nothing out of the ordinary going on today, training in the AM, a lunch brake midday, and some crowd wooing in the afternoon.

Private, Kowalski, and Rico were just getting out of bed when Skipper spoke up.

“Well men,” Skipper said sternly as he placed the briefing on the table and took a sip of his coffee, “make sure you’re outside at 0700 hours” he continued checking the clock on the wall; it showed 6:45.

Skipper stood straight up and shot his flipper...

“Really Together”

Skipper and Marlene smiled as they finished decorating the small Christmas tree in her habitat. Once they’d finished wrapping thin garlands and LED lights around it and hanging tiny hand-made ornaments, they stood back and admired their work.

“Well,” Skipper said, taking her by the waist from the side, “I think it turned out pretty well.”

Marlene smiled and rested her paw on his chest. “I think so too. I had a good time decorating it with you.”

Skipper looked back to the tree. “You too, Marlene,” he replied. “Let’s turn off the lights...

Marlene yawned. “Thanks for taking me to that Enrique Guitaro concert, guys,” she said to the penguins as they drove her home. “It went a lot better than last time. And going backstage? That was”—she yawned again as if she hadn’t slept in days—“really awesome,” she finished.

Skipper chuckled from his place to the right of her. “I don’t think staying up all the way to one in the morning is a good idea for you.”

Marlene shook her head. “No, no, I’m awake.” She fought off another yawn and rubbed her eyes. “Tack as a sharp.”

Note: I’ve typically been writing notes at the end, but for this case, I must make an exception as to be clear to you, or at least the ones who haven’t read my previous works. I have been thinking about doing a sequel to one of my stories, but never did because I didn’t think I could make anything long and commendable out of it. But with this project, I received some inspiration and motivation to do so in a short story. So, this short is a little sequel to “Skipper’s Curse.” If you haven’t read it before and plan to, be aware that this will contain...

“Reflecting On Doubts”
December 29, 2013

“Hidy-ho, Marlene! Sound off,” Skipper called as he entered Marlene’s cave.

“Right here, Skipper,” Marlene called back.

Skipper found Marlene standing in front of her mirror with an uneasy look in her eye, smoothing back her fur and tracing over her cheekbones with her fingers.

“You’ve been cooped up in here all day. Is everything all right, Marlene?” Skipper asked, coming up behind her. Marlene kept her eyes on her complexion.

    “Skipper,...

“Bad Timing”

“Hey, Skipper! Where’s the team?” Marlene asked as she entered the HQ.

Skipper shifted between cameras on his surveillance screen. “Oh, they’re out doing some recon while I watch the cameras. Unfortunately, Christmas is a time for crime. So, we’re cracking down until the holidays are over. What brings you here?” he replied.

“I was getting a little cold in my habitat and was hoping if it’d be cool if I stayed here until Alice bothered to turn up the heat,” Marlene told him....

Operation: Skilene
Author’s Note:
I started on these a while ago, and have decided to finally publish them. Most of these shorts were inspired by a game on fanpop called “What would Skipper say (WWSS) Game” on pages 40-43. Thank you to 27Kowalski (on Fanpop), also known as SierraTangoEcho on deviantArt, for helping me with ideas and scenarios. Credit goes to her for the few drawings. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them. They are in no particular order, other than the sequence they were written. Please review!

PS, for those following my “Operation: Challenge,”...

Breaking the Rules 08.10.15

“All right,” Kowalski said, shuffling the card deck. “We’re playing a game called ‘Obtenir Encore.’”

Skipper arched a brow. “What?”

“It’s French. Don’t worry about it,” Kowalski said. He dealt four cards to each player. “Dealer goes first and we move counter-clockwise from there,” he explained, picking up his hand and sliding the deck to the center of the table. He studied his cards and placed an ace of spades face-up next to the deck.

After studying his cards carefully, Private picked a card and placed a four of diamonds on top of Kowalski’s...

Author’s Note: This is my fifth installment of POM skits. My first was regular link, second was link skits, third were link skits, and the fourth showcased link in various antics. For this installment, they will all be humanized scenarios. Any title with a Roman Numeral next to it has a skit note associated with it at the end. I hope you enjoy!

Five Years Later

“Are you nervous?” Laura asked as she adjusted Harold’s cap.

“Nah,” Harold answered with a smile. Laura crossed her arms and gave him a look. “Okay, fine!” Harold admitted. “Maybe a little.”

Laura smiled.

“You’ll do fine. Now, go! They’re waiting for you,” she said ushering him toward the stage.

“And now,” said a man at the podium, “our August Martin High School valedictorian of 2020, Harold Chance!”

Harold smiled and waved at the audience in the auditorium as they applauded.

“Thank you, everyone,” he said into the microphone. The audience silenced...

"It's that it?"

"No, there's still a few left, sir."

"Well? What are they? Give us a list. Rico and I will gather them as soon as he comes back from gathering the last list you gave him."

"Sure! Just give me a few moments."

"This had better work, Private. I still say it's a waste of time."

"Don't worry! It will! I just hope that Kowalski is all right with it."

Kowalski paused on his way to the HQ's slightly covered entrance. Bits of conversation had seeped out, and they were not making any sense to the scientist. What were Private and Skipper talking about? That was not the thing what worried Kowalski,...

Author's Note: Here's the next chapter. I decided to post both of them because
(1) I had them already typed out on my computer
(2) I didn't update the story for a while
(3) I wanted to celebrate 2014!
Also, this chapter is in nobody's PoV. The other chapters (except otherwise noted) will be in Nathan's PoV. Enjoy!

“Nathan didn’t always work alone,” explained Leo. “He had a partner –Billy.”

“What happened?” asked Private.

“I’ll get to that part soon,” said Leo. “Together, Billy and he were one of the best.”

He glanced at Skipper. “Perhaps you know them, Skipper.”

Author's Note: For the people, fanguins, cookies, and others who wanted this story to continue. Once again, this has absolutely nothing to do with the holiday season but enjoy!

The first realization I had that I wasn’t dead was voices –familiar, annoying voices. I had never been so glad to hear anyone in my life. “When is he going to wake up, Skipper?”

I knew that voice. I frantically searched in my mind for the name of the speaker. Private. That was his name. Skipper replied. “I don’t know, Private. I don’t know.”

I heard a barely contained sob, and the sounds of another comforting...

Monique walked over to the dock and put her purse in her secret spot before sitting down. She didn't need the clock on her phone to tell her that it was too early for anyone, even her as someone who isn't a morning person, to be awake. Though, during these past few months, thoughts have been flooding the aspie's mind causing her to wake up completely early in the morning. It had been a few months since Kowalski and the others left for their mission over seas. She always felt the urge to come to the dock around this time, since it always gave her the reminder that they'll be back soon. She always...
