Thanks to celebrity fashion lines, dressing like your favorite movie star has become much more attainable. Last summer, Selena Gomez (star of Disney hit Wizards of Waverly Place) launched her fashion line Dream Out Loud, exclusively at Kmart. The clothes in this line are pretty much everything you would expect from a juniors’ clothing line–a little bohemian and very casual. These are the kinds of clothes you can easily mix and match to create a variety of looks that look just as cool at school as they do when you’re lounging at home. Dream Out Loud features a variety of tops, tees, jeans, coats, accessories, handbags, and more. There are so many amazing garments and accessories to choose from, but I think the real appeal here is that everything in this line is so affordable! With accessories starting at just $8.00, it will be easy to revamp your wardrobe (or your daughter’s) without breaking the bank.
Now let’s take a closer look at just a few amazing finds.
A few of my favorite pieces from the current winter 2010/11 collection include the Belted Cardigan ($19.99 at Kmart). This gorgeous sweater mixes the classic style of a cardigan with trendy details like a tie belt that cinches the waist. This cardigan makes a terrific alternative to jackets or blazers. The cute tie-belt can also be worn with other clothes such as dresses or long tunics. Another item I like: Skinny Leg Denim Jeans ($20.00 at Kmart). This pair of denim is everything that you’d want in a pair of jeans in terms of fit and style. The super skinny fit looks amazing when paired with a billowy top or long tunic-style dress! And if you’re really into the military-inspired trend, you will be pleased to know that the Dream Out Loud line includes two super cute pieces including the Canvas Military Jacket ($24.00) and the Peplum Military-Inspired Top ($24.00). Both garments beautifully merge the utilitarian look with feminine flare. If you prefer an edgy look, you will just love the Pleather Jacket (just $18.99), which features PVC construction and stand-up collar for a cool look. You can easily wear this faux leather jacket with everything from tee shirts to maxi dresses.
Next up, we’re talking about my favorite accessories and handbags from the Dream Out Loud line. I really like the Front Zip Crinkle Pattern Hobo Handbag ($12.99 at Kmart). This cute little hobo-shaped bag features vinyl construction and a diagonal zipped pocket in the front which makes it so edgy cool. Looking for a fun clutch instead? You will like this Dot & Bird Print Shimmer Hinge Wallet ($6.99). This crimson red clutch/wallet features features an all-over print design of tiny birds and dots. I also really think the Lace Trim Military Hat is a cute find at just $8.00. This accessory looks fun with a small brim and a band with lace detailing that goes across it. For styles that call for a touch of glamour, the Vertical Sequin Stripe Jersey Scarf is the perfect choice! Also retailing for $8.00, this amazing accessory features a stripe-like design of sequins on the front. A scarf like this is something you can wear in a multitude of ways: gently tie it around your neck or your hair, or you could tie it around the straps of your handbag, or even turn it into a band to wrap around a hat. Another terrific accessory from this line is the Skinny Belt with flat & dome studs ($6.99). This slender belt features leather construction, studded details, and a round single tang metal buckle. You can wear this belt with your favorite pairs of jeans, or you could wear it to cinch and define your figure.
Judging by all the amazing clothes, handbags and accessories in the line, I can quickly predict that Selena Gomez might go on to create other fashion lines or collaborate with other hip designers to create even more amazing pieces! The Dream Out Loud fashion line is one celebrity fashion line that I think will appeal to all types of fashionable tweens and teens simply because her line features a little bit of everything. Her stylish pieces run the gamut of different styles and include bohemian, sporty, and edgy. Her clothes are fun to wear, as they come in a variety of bold, yet wearable, colors and prints. It’s a fashion line that feels casual, cute, and easy to mix with pieces you already own. Even though the Dream Out Loud line is marketed towards young girls, I can definitely see women in their twenties adding these cool clothes (or at least the accessories) to their own wardrobes. Fashion should always be this fun, chic, and affordable. Check out Kmart.com to shop her entire collection.

The Who Says hitmaker wore a bindi, a forehead decoration traditionally used by women in South Asia for religious purposes, and danced seductively like a Bollywood star while singing her new tune Come & Get It - but some viewers were less than thrilled by her sultry act and took to Twitter.com to voice their outrage, prompting the term Cultural Appropriation to become a trending topic on the social networking site.

In a post, one fan wrote, "The bindi is not just some fashion accessory you can throw on," while another added, "Selena Gomez, take that bindi of (sic) your head, cultural appropriation is not cute."

A third follower tweeted, "CULTURAL APPROPRIATION AT IT'S FINEST, MY RESPECT FOR SELENA IS FADING AS WE SPEAK," while a fourth viewer wrote, "leave Bindis for Indian women."

The 20 year old has yet to respond to the criticism.

Finally after week or 2 of teasers from Selena Gomez’s newest video, “Hit the Lights”, it was released. Selena who shared a couple of her teasers and an exclusive behind the scenes look leading up to the video had fun. According to her, it is all about having fun and letting go of the world’s issues. As you can tell in the video down below, she certainly captured that well in the music video. Selena switched up her looks throughout the video, even going for a more punk rock look. This video is for her third single off When the Sun Goes Down.

This video clearly proves that she is no longer...

During the National Council of La Raza's ALMA Awards, Selena Gomez won the award for comedy for her performance in Wizards of Waverly Place.

Selena signed TI-Nspire graphing calculators for patients at City of Hope, a research center located in Duarte, California that treats cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases, for use in their math and science courses.

Her favorite sport is basketball.

Selena attended public school until fifth grade and she use to get into trouble for talking during class (Usually because she was trying to help other students with their tests). She prefered...

i'm floating on cloud mine
just like a balloon
i'm slipping and i'm falling headfirst
i'm falling for you,

cause i'm hanging on to every word you say
but my covers blown is that okay?
cause i get feelings that i just can't shake
